A Working Ranch — Not a Dude Ranch

This is the real thing.

The Leffingwells have run cattle on the Montana prairie for five generations. When you come to stay, you don’t watch the ranch from a fence rail — you swing into the saddle and become part of the outfit for a week.

You’ll ride out with the family, take on whatever the day brings, and gather back around the supper table come evening. You’ll go home dusty, a little saddle-sore, and carrying a real feel for a way of life the West was built on.

Three home-cooked meals a day, family-style, from great-grandma Leffingwell’s own cookbook.

Five Generations

A way of life, handed down.

Since 1878, this family has run cattle in Montana — learning the country, building the herd, and passing the whole of it, hard-won knowledge and all, from one generation to the next.

Today Mary and Dustin are raising their own kids on the place and carrying the outfit forward, with Mike and Maria never far from the corrals. When you stay, you don’t just visit a ranch — you spend a week inside a living family tradition.

“We don’t just run a seminar in ranching — we invite you to be part of the daily routine.”

The Country

Fifteen thousand acres along the Powder River.

Alfalfa bottoms, sagebrush and juniper canyons, and grass prairie dotted with rock formations — all of it under a wide, star-speckled sky, wrapped in peace and quiet.
